Victoria Mohon Named 2023 KY Teacher Of The Year Finalist

A teacher at Christian County High School has been selected as a finalist for the 2023 Valvoline Kentucky Teacher of the Year Award.

The Kentucky Department of Education and Valvoline, Inc. announced Monday that agriculture teacher Victoria Mohon was among the 24 finalists chosen. She has been with the district since 2016.

District Superintendent Chris Bentzel said they are elated at the selection of Mohon as a finalist for Kentucky Teacher of the Year. He went on to say the district is proud of Mohon’s accomplishments and recognized the hard work and dedication she has shown. He notes that Mohon is a favorite among students and staff at Christian County High School and she has given 110% to creating the strong agriculture department at CCHS.

According to a release from KDE, they received 1,987 nominations from all 171 school districts. A veteran panel of educators from across the state judged the entries. All 24 nominees will be honored during a ceremony in Frankfort on September 20. At that time, the Kentucky Elementary, Middle and High School Teachers of the Year will be announced. The winners in each category will be named to represent the state at the National Teacher of the Year competition.

Valvoline, Inc. is the sponsor of the Kentucky Teacher of the Year program and is headquartered in Lexington.
