As the heat wave and drought conditions continue, the region could get a little relief as a cold front moves through the area late Sunday.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah a heat advisory will continue through 8:00 Sunday night with heat index values of 105 to 110 degrees expected in the afternoon hours across western Kentucky.
If you plan to be outdoors, take extra precautions as the hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.
When possible reschedule any strenuous activities to the early morning or evening hours, drink plenty of fluids, and wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing.
Also, check up on relatives and neighbors, and make sure your pets have shade and plenty of water.
The National Weather Service indicates a cold front will move across western Kentucky late Sunday with a slight chance of some showers after midnight. On Monday, the temperature will be in the lower 90s with a 60-percent chance of some rain across the area.
