Helping Hands Back To School Drive Raises Record Amount

The community and a number of supporting organizations will provide a record amount of funds to allow Helping Hands to take children back to school shopping this year.

Hancock’s Neighborhood Market and WKDZ partner with Helping Hands each August to raise money for the organization’s back-to-school supply drive. When the dust settled following a two-hour Live Afternoon Drive on the Road on WKDZ-FM WKDZ Country Club co-host Cindy Allen-Lax reported a record $15,223 had been raised.

The fundraising was enhanced by $5,000 donations each from the Back To Back Foundation and an anonymous donor. Businesses and community members also provided a number of donations ranging from just a few dollars to $500 or $,1000.
