Kentuckians of all walks rely and depend on the 20,000-plus non-profit organizations within the Commonwealth.
Most of them are about to get a needed post-COVID boost.
On Thursday, Governor Andy Beshear announced a $75 million fund specifically created for these organizations — which, following successful applications, will provide one-time direct relief payments up to $100,000 per eligible non-profit organization.
These are federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) that were allocated by the 2021 Kentucky General Assembly.
Danielle Clore, CEO of the Kentucky Non-profit Network, noted that these types of organizations are the state’s third-largest private-sector employer — with considerable needs following the height of the pandemic.
Non-profit officials can apply at teamkynonprofit.ky.gov. More than 400 applications, and $20 million, have been applied for as of Thursday afternoon.
In order to be eligible, organizations must be based in Kentucky, still in active operation, must remain active for the entirety of the 2022 calendar year, and must have experienced a net negative revenue between the 2020 and 2021 calendar years.
The Public Protection Cabinet is administering the program and is accepting online applications, and the online application portal will close at 4:30 p.m., October 1.
