HCCPL Announces Fourth Annual Hoptown FanFest

Officials from the Hopkinsville-Christian County Public Library have announced the Fourth Annual Hoptown FanFest, planned for 10 AM to 4 PM Saturday, September 24.

HCCPL Operations Director Tiffany Luna and Hopkinsville Community College Director of Library Services are co-coordinators of the event.

Luna noted that FanFest is the library’s version of a “pop culture convention,” where comic fans, creators and experts can congregate, attend panels, participate in discussions and meet other like-minded artists.

Free to the public, the event is for attendees of all ages and interests. There will be vendors, a cos-play contest, discussions, photo opportunities and a video gaming area.

The cos-play contest is open to all ages, with prizes planned for three age brackets. To enter, simply arrive dressed as a beloved pop culture character and sign up between 10 AM and noon.

For more information about the cos-play contest rules, visit hccpl.org/hoptown-fanfest.

Panel discussions will include “Hopkinsville in Comics” with The Secret Base, “Indie Publishing” with Matt Schorr, “Make-up in Cos-play” with Lauren Diehl and “How to Illustrate Comics” with Barry Williams.

Vendor applications for FanFest are also still being accepted through September 10, and can be submitted online at hccpl.org/hoptown-fanfest.

The first 100 people to FanFest will receive a free tote bag.
