A Tennessee man was charged with assaulting a police officer in Hopkinsville after camera footage was reviewed Tuesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say 44-year-old Gregory Thomason was involved in a collision at the intersection of Pembroke Road and Bill Bryan Boulevard.
During the investigation, Thomason was reportedly aggressive towards officers he also had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.
After a search of his vehicle, police say he was found to have marijuana inside of an ibuprofen bottle, an open bottle of alcohol, and a marijuana grinder.
Police say they were able to review the officer’s video after the arrest and can see Thomason attempting to strike the officer and grabbing the officer and wrestling with him while he was being arrested.
Thomason is charged with third-degree assault of a police officer, DUI, failure to maintain required insurance, possession of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
He was also found to have active warrants for failure to appear and non-payment of fines.
