A construction management firm will be joining the team working to build the Hopkinsville Christian County Academy. Thursday night, the Christian County Board of Education voted to go with Alliance Corporation out of Glasgow, KY.
Alliace Executive Vice President Tim Geegan was in attendance and told board members they are committed to making the project happen.
In other business, the School Board voted to decrease the real property tax rate for 2022-2023. Finance Director Jessica Darnell says the current rate of 42.3 cents per 100 dollars assessed value is among the lowest in the state.
Even with the rate reduction to 42.2 cents per 100 assessed value, the district will see an 1.2 million dollar increase in funding because of property valuation increases. Board Attorney Jack Lackey and Darnell clarified that even that increase is somewhat misleading.
SEEK is the funding from the state that is provided per student based on the average daily attendance of the district.
