The Trigg County Relay for Life Survivors Dinner was held Tuesday evening as the local organization commemorated 25 years and came together to honor cancer survivors.
Morganfield native and Union County High School graduate, Dr. James Fellows was the guest speaker at the dinner held at the Cadiz Baptist Church Annex. He said cancer is a blow to a patient when they are told of the diagnosis, but he added it not only affects the patient — it affects the whole family. He added that he became even more aware of that when his spouse Tracy was diagnosed with breast cancer in January.
click to download audioDr. Fellows said before she began treatment — which he noted is the utmost important time to start cancer treatment — she came down with COVID. Subsequent to that, Dr. Fellows said she started her treatments and had 20 weeks of chemotherapy. Following that she went through surgery and finished her last chemotherapy treatment Tuesday. Dr. Fellows added the good side of all this is after she had gone through surgery, chemo and radiation, the cancer was gone.

Dr. Fellows is a urologist with offices in Cadiz, Hopkinsville, Madisonville, and Henderson.
The event was held at the Cadiz Baptist Church Annex and this was the 23rd year the Bank of Cadiz sponsored the meal. The oldest cancer survivor at the dinner was 94-years old and the youngest cancer survivor was 5-years old. All of the cancer survivor attendees were given door prizes from local businesses before departing the annual event.
