The Cadiz Veterans Day Parade is slated for Friday and while the start of the annual event will be a little different, the meaning and the celebration of those who served our country remain the same.
It will be the first Veteran’s Day parade in Cadiz in three years after the 2020 event was canceled due to COVID-19 and last year’s fell victim to bad weather.
Karl Johnson with VFW Post 7890 said the parade will line up behind Trigg County Middle School but it will be different due to construction work being done on the school’s campus.

This year’s parade grand marshal is F.J. Hanberry, who enlisted in the U.S. Army in December 1942 and served as a supply clerk.
After completing training at several locations in the U.S., he shipped out to Europe in July 1943. He had assignments in England, France, and Germany and participated in battles in Normandy and Central Europe.
Hanberry returned home in December 1945 and was discharged from the Army. He received the European–African–Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal.
He worked at Wilbur Boggess Chevrolet in downtown Cadiz until he retired in 1985.
