The sentencing of an Oak Grove woman accused of causing the death of her 16-year old daughter in June 2020 was continued to December.
Patricia Conyers is charged with second-degree manslaughter. She was scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday after she entered an Alford plea in Christian Circuit Court when she and her attorney Jason Holland appeared before Judge John Atkins in October.
After hearing arguments from Conyers’ attorney Jason Holland and Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling in court Wednesday, court records indicate Judge Atkins asked both sides for more information regarding the circumstances of the teen’s death before he imposed final sentencing.
Judge Atkins continued final sentencing to December 14th.
Conyers is accused of neglecting to give her 16-year old daughter her medication as directed and canceled or did not attend scheduled doctor’s appointments. Oak Grove Police said if her daughter’s fatal acute illness had been treated timely and appropriately it would not have led to her death.
