With just New Year’s Day in front, gas prices continue to drop during the 2022 winter holiday season.
According to the AAA East Central Gas Price Report, costs at the pump in west central Kentucky this week fell six cents to an average $2.68 per gallon — down from last week’s $2.74 per gallon.
In Caldwell County, it ranges from $2.68 to $2.79.
And in Lyon County, it’s somewhere between $2.69 and $2.79.
The average price per gallon a year ago: $2.86.
In Trigg County, it’s between $2.79 and $2.99.
In Christian County, they’re as low as $2.38 in Fort Campbell, up to $2.64 in Hopkinsville.
In Todd County, it’s from $2.69 to $2.77.
Regionally, it’s $2.74 in Bowling Green, $2.53 in Elizabethtown, $3.00 in Louisville, $2.52 in Owensboro and $2.65 in Paducah.
Meanwhile, the national average also fell again, down four cents from last week to $3.10.
That’s 45 cents less than a month ago, and 18 cents less than a year ago.
Per the Energy Information Administration, gasoline demand increased only slightly in the last week. Coupled with fluctuating oil prices, this could limit price decreases at the end of the calendar year.
The overall general trend for petroleum, however, is expected to further dive as the winter driving season really takes hold.
