Oak Grove’s Cunningham Named President Of Convention & Visitors Bureaus

The Kentucky Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus has a new president for 2023, and it’s a local woman with lots of experience in realm of tourism.

Traci Cunningham, executive director of the Oak Grove Tourism & Convention Commission since March 2004, has been elevated from president-elect to the position, made effective at the organization’s December 9 meeting in Corbin.

The not-for-profit organization meets quarterly throughout the Commonwealth, in order to fully discuss and analyze the needs and mechanisms of political advocacy, public awareness and education for CVB’s across the state.

The group’s goal is to improve the station and elevate the understanding of Kentucky’s tourism industry, its importance to micro- and macroeconomics, its societal contributions to cities, counties and regions, and all while monitoring and influencing the Frankfort front for policy and programming that directly impacts the convention and visitor industry.

Cunningham said she was “honored” to have been selected to work with wonderful partners, and that she’s looking forward to engaging with communities of all sizes.

KACVB works directly with a number of sister organizations, including the Kentucky Department of Tourism, the Kentucky Travel Industry Association, the Kentucky Restaurant Association, the Kentucky Hotel Association and the Kentucky Marina Association.

Cunningham’s executive officers for 2023 include Vice President Lori Murphy-Tatum of the Richmond Tourism Commission, Secretary Michelle Allen of the Somerset-Pulaski CVB, Treasurer Lori Saunders of Georgetown/Scott County Tourism, and Immediate Past President Janette Marson of ShelbyKY Tourism.
