A man was charged with assaulting a deputy during the investigation of his alleged assault of his grandparents Wednesday night.
Trigg County Sheriff’s deputies say they were called for 24-year-old Damien Mefford assaulting his grandparents and when they arrived he was extremely belligerent causing law enforcement to detain him in handcuffs and escort him out to a patrol vehicle.
While being escorted to the vehicle, Mefford reportedly began to kick, pull away, and head-butt a deputy then threatened to kill the deputy’s family and burn his house down.
Deputies say he began to head-butt the window in the back of the vehicle causing a large laceration to his own head, while at the hospital he reportedly became aggressive and belligerent leading to his blood getting all over the uniform of the deputy and jailer.
He was taken to the Christian County Jail and lodged on charges of second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, third-degree criminal mischief, third-degree terroristic threatening, menacing, and fourth- and third-degree assault.
