Judge Hands Down Sentence in Richard Street Murder Case

A Hopkinsville man charged in connection to a fatal shooting on Richard Street in February was sentenced to 20 years in prison after he entered an Alford Plea to amended charges in Christian County Circuit Court Wednesday afternoon.

Daron Bell was charged with murder in the death of 36-year old Gregory Burse who was found unresponsive with a gunshot to the chest inside a home on Richard Street on the morning of February 2, 2022. He was taken by ambulance to Jennie Stuart Health where he later died from his injuries.

During a pretrial conference Wednesday, Bell, his attorney, Doug Moore and Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Boling appeared before Judge Andrew Self who said he had been informed a resolution had been reached. As part of the resolution, Bell entered an Alford Plea to amended charges.
