Man Charged After Hopkinsville Police Pursuit

A man was charged after a pursuit on South Virginia Street in Hopkinsville Saturday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop a vehicle for an improper turn and the driver disregarded emergency lights and sirens and failed to stop.

When the vehicle came to a stop the driver reportedly fled disregarding clothing with marijuana inside.

Police say the passenger 29-year-old Zachary Berry of Hopkinsville was taken into custody and lied regarding the situation and owning the vehicle. An open bottle of alcohol was allegedly found on the floorboard of the vehicle.

Berry was arrested and charged with second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension and possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.

The driver has not been located.
