Officials with the Christian County Public Schools announced Tuesday the hiring of Tina Jarrett, who will serve as the coordinator of the up-and-coming Inspire Early Learning Academy in Hopkinsville.
Jarrett most recently served as the director for Promise Land Preschool over the last 15 years.
In a written statement, Jarrett said she was “excited” and “humbled” to oversee the new early child program for CCPS, local industry and the community, and that the community should “really focus on the importance of how early childhood education is the building block that lays the foundation for each child’s future.”
In December, the CCPS school board voted to establish the Inspire Early Learning Academy, in hopes of creating more opportunities for high-quality childcare among CCPS employees and the area’s industry partners.
The center will be located at Martin Luther King, Jr. Elementary School, and already has a partnership with the South Western Kentucky EDC to help “ease the burden of finding childcare in the area” — which time and again has been labeled a “child care desert” by numerous officials.
Jarrett is a 1987 graduate of Caldwell County High School, who received her associates in early childhood education from Hopkinsville Community College in 2000, and she resides in Hopkinsville with husband, Christian. They have two children, Kyle and Kelci, and five granddaughters.
