Chocolate Affair On Tap For Saturday At Janice Mason Art Museum

Having not been held since pre-COVID, there’s great anticipation for the typically-annual “Chocolate Affair” — set for 4, 5 & 6 PM Saturday evening in the Janice Mason Art Museum.

Leida Tackett, assistant director for the JMAM, said more than 130 have already purchased their $25 ticket for the event, but they aren’t turning anyone away from the special occasion.

Through February 18, the JMAM is showcasing an exhibit titled “For The Love of Art & Music,” one that combines art and music behind three subjects: nature, women and guitars.

Lynn Pesoat is a lifelong artist and retired teacher, who uses a variety of mediums to uplift women and nature. Marc Beeckman has made and procured functional guitars from mediums like Lake Barkley driftwood, cigar boxes, and even a puppy bowl.

Tackett said both Pesoat and Beeckman will be in attendance, but their appearance is only half of the fun. Board members for the museum have been working diligently to craft homemade chocolate hors d’oeuvres and other treats. So many, that Tackett couldn’t name them all.

Other treats Tackett could remember: some Fireball fudge, some Maker’s Mark and coffee-layered fudge and some Oreo truffles.

Live music will be provided by Abigail Love. A photo op space will be available. There will be a champagne room with coffee and water also on hand, while the chocolate fountain — and fun-dipping things — makes its triumphant return.

Since chocolates could bring on that “gut-busting” feeling, Tackett said casual attire is encouraged — but, please, no jeans.

Also, Tackett noted one should come prepared to bid.

Located at 71 Main Street, Tackett said it would be appropriate to call and reserve a spot through (270) 522-9056, but that they “wouldn’t turn anyone away at the door.”
