Gas prices in west central Kentucky took another dip this week, down to $3.02 after hovering around $3.11 in the last seven days.
The nine-cent drop is according to the weekly AAA East Central Gas Price Report, and continues a welcome trend of lowering prices at the start of this month.
In Caldwell County, it’s between $3.09 and $3.29, in Christian County it’s between $2.87 and $3.07, in Crittenden County it’s around $3.07, in Lyon County it’s between $3.07 and $3.37, in Trigg County it’s between $3.19 and $3.29, and in Todd County it’s anywhere from $2.96 to $3.17.
This time last year, prices were around $3.17/gallon — 15 cents higher than now.
This week, it’s $2.85 in Owensboro, $2.94 in Elizabethtown, $3.04 in both Paducah and Bowling Green, and $3.24 in Louisville.
The national average for a gallon also dropped six cents this week, down to $3.41. That’s 13 cents more than a month ago, but seven cents less than a year ago.
AAA reports that fewer people are fueling up and oil is a lower cost per barrel.
At the close of last Wednesday’s formal trading session, West Texas Intermediate had increased by $1.33 to settle at $78.47 per barrel.
