Former Elkton Mayor Bryant Blount, III Dies

A two-term mayor of Elkton has passed away.

According to Latham Funeral Home in Elkton, 99-year-old Bryan Whitfield Blount III passed away Monday at Jubilee House Assisted Living in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Blount served as Mayor of Elkton from 1990 to 1998. Before taking on a local politics role, he worked at Ashland Oil Company for 33 years and was an agent for Power Real Estate in Elkton.

Blount held a BA Degree in Commerce from the University of Kentucky and was a decorated U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, having earned a Purple Heart in the Philippine Liberation Campaign.

He was a very active member of the Elkton Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Blount also served on several local boards including Hopkinsville Community College, Hopkinsville Community College Foundation, Todd County Aging Council, Todd County Industrial Foundation, and the Blount Rural Health Clinic.
