Shoplifting Investigation Leads To Meth Charges

A Hopkinsville man was charged with possession of drugs during a shoplifting investigation at Walmart Monday morning.

Hopkinsville Police say 42-year-old Jason Nelson was stopped by Walmart employees for shoplifting a light bulb, a lighter, shoes, and a backpack. While talking with police he reportedly admitted to having a glass pipe that had meth residue in it.

Police say he was found to have an active warrant for failure to appear on a previous shoplifting incident. Nelson was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
