High Winds Blamed For Spreading Field Fires

Firefighters from Christian, Trigg and Todd counties have been called to several field fires due to down power lines and controlled burns Monday.

Trenton Fire Chief John Stahl says they have been called to East Tutt Road and Hammacksville Road for field fires in just the course of 3 hours.

Cerulean Fire Department in Trigg County was also called to Blackhawk Road for a field fire started by a powerline down. Along with Lacy Fire Department in Christian County was called to Greenville Road for a Tree on fire.

Stahl and Emergency Managers from Christian and Trigg County say they highly discourage open burning until these high winds subside. Stahl says a burn ban is in effect from 6 am to 6 pm daily during the hazard season starting February 15th –  April 30th.

Christian, Trigg, and Todd counties are all under a wind advisory until 6 pm Monday.
