Hopkinsville City Council Approves Bonds and Contract

The City of Hopkinsville is moving forward with the purchase of property for the fifth fire station. Tuesday night, City Council approved unanimously on second reading of the bond issue for the project.

click to download audioCity Clerk Crissy Fletcher read the ordinance which calls for $2.6 million in bonds that will mature over the next 10 years.

City Council also approved the first reading of the rezoning of the former Kentucky New Era property on East 9th Street from industrial to commercial and the 2022-2023 Operational and Capital Budget amendments.

After some discussion, the Council did vote to enter into an agreement with Club and Leisure Partners for the management of the water park. Councilman Chuck Crabtree was not happy with the time they were given to review the agreement.

Meanwhile, Council voted to use $61,200 to design the rail spur in Commerce Park II as well as to declare 10 pieces of property surplus.
