The Trigg County Special Olympics basketball team brought home the state championship Sunday.
Trigg County won the championship game 31 to 19. Sunday’s win came after the team won their semi-final game Saturday afternoon in Louisville.
The team was welcomed home with a police escort that included the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department, Cadiz Police Department, and the Cadiz Fire Department. Several friends and supporters lined Main Street in Cadiz and gathered at The Way to help the team celebrate.
Cadiz Mayor Todd King says he will sign a proclamation at the April Cadiz City Council Meeting declaring April 5th as Trigg County Special Olympics Day in Cadiz.
