Man Charged With Assaulting A Woman With A Machete

A Hopkinsville man was charged Tuesday with first-degree assault after he allegedly assaulted a woman with a machete on March 5th.

Hopkinsville Police say 50-year-old Darryl Dixon got into an argument with a woman on West 13th Street over who she was talking to or dating and stabbed her with a knife, punched her, and cut her arm with a machete.

A tourniquet reportedly had to be used to slow her bleeding and she had severe lacerations on her arm that required stitches, a stab wound on her left ankle, and a swollen black eye.

The woman allegedly told law enforcement she and Dixon had smoked meth prior to the assault. Police say the woman may lose mobility in her left arm due to the injuries.

Dixon was arrested by the Christian County Sheriff’s Office on Kentucky 272 and charged with resisting arrest, kidnapping (with serious physical injury), and first-degree assault – domestic violence.
