A bond reduction request made by the attorney of a Hopkinsville man charged with the murder of an infant child last year was denied Wednesday in Christian County Circuit Court.
22-year-old Alexander Heck is charged with the death of a 15-month-old child on March 1. Police said the child, who was not related to Heck, died of blunt force trauma.
During Wednesday’s court appearance, Heck’s attorney Michael Thompson asked Judge Andrew Self to reduce Heck’s bond from $500,000 cash to $100,000 at 10%.
click to download audioDuring the court hearing, some more details about the case were made public. Thompson said the child’s mother was living with Heck and his wife at the time of the child’s death. Thompson said it was Heck who found the child unresponsive and called for help.
However, Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Bolen informed the judge that Heck was the only adult in the home when the child was found unresponsive.
