Hopkinsville City Council will consider naming the Second Street Community Center and a solid waste trucks lease after action by the Committee of the Whole at Thursday night’s meeting.
The committee unanimously approved a request from councilwoman Natasha Francis and community members to name the Second Street Community Center after Kenneth Bates.
click to download audioIn other action, Richard Hopper requested for the City to help fund a Solid Waste trucks lease with a total cost of over $4.3 million.
click to download audioCommittee chair Steve Keel added that he is a member of the Hopkinsville Solid Waste Board of Directors, who all voted in favor of the lease.

City Council will also consider a $5,000 budget amendment for the purchase of a truck for Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation, with a total cost of $45,000.
The Committee of the Whole also heard updates about insurance, planning and zoning, and parks and recreation, along with an update and discussion about the Sudden Service Electric Vehicle Charging Station.
