Funeral Services for 96-year-old Tom Vinson of Cadiz, will be Friday, March 31, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Goodwin Funeral Home, in Cadiz.
Burial will follow in Vinson Cemetery in Trigg County.

Grandchildren – Five grandchildren, Cassandra Erenrich (John), Thomas Vinson, Robert Vinson, Forrest Vinson, and Jesse Vinson
Brother – Judge Roger C. Vinson (Ellen), Pensacola, Fla.
Daughter-in-law – Brenda Vinson, Cadiz
Daughter-in-law – Robin Vinson, Newport News, Va.
Tom Vinson passed away on:
Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Princeton Nursing and Rehabilitation in Princeton
Born September 5, 1926, in Trigg County, Kentucky, he was the fifth child of the late Carey Thomas Vinson, Sr. and Mallie (Guier) Vinson. He served in the United States Army during the Koren Conflict, where he was stationed at Fort Jackson in South Carolina. Tom was a 1944 graduate of Trigg County High School, received his Bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry from the University of Kentucky, and his Masters’s degree from Murray State College in 1958.
He taught science at Trigg County High School until 1961 and then was employed as assistant principal of the high school and administrative principal of the consolidated schools until 1965. In 1970, he was elected superintendent of the Trigg County Schools system and remained in that position until his retirement. Tom was a member of numerous educational organizations.
He was a charter member of the Cadiz Rotary Club, serving as president in 1969 and served as president of the Kentucky Association of School Superintendents in 1980. He was a commissioner of the Barkley Lake Water District from 1965 to 1981, serving as chairman during the initial construction and expansion period. Tom was an active charter member of the Trigg County Historical Society and a founding member of the Thomas-Bridges Association. In 1984, he received the annual Kentucky Association of School Administrators Distinguished Service Award. He was an avid University of Kentucky fan and enjoyed going golfing.
He was a faithful member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Cadiz, where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday school.
