The Trigg County community is stepping up to help feed those who continue to fulfill their responsibilities at the location where two Blackhawk helicopters crashed west of Cadiz Wednesday night.
Rita Kay Calhoun and others have spearheaded an effort to ensure those working have a fresh meal while continuing to assess the situation. She tells Your News Edge support has been received by Hancock’s Neighborhood Market, Food Giant, Minit Mart, and the Sinclair Gas Station at Canton, as well as monetary donations.
Over the last two days, all kinds of food and drink items have been donated to those on the scene. Calhoun, who lives across the field from the incident, ensures deliveries get into the right hands.
No date has been provided as to when U.S. Army crews are expected to finish their investigative work on the crash that killed nine servicemen. Calhoun said, “as long as I’m getting donations, as long as the troops are here, I’ll supply something.”

When Your News Edge asked why she is providing this support, Calhoun said this was “laid upon my heart to do the right thing.” She added, “it takes a community to move mountains.”
