Weak Tornado Reported In Calloway County From Wednesday’s Storm

A tornado touched down in Calloway County Wednesday afternoon when severe thunderstorms tracked across the region.

The National Weather Service in Paducah confirmed the EF-0 tornado Thursday after a storm survey crew assessed the damage.

The tornado reached an estimated wind speed of 85 MPH and touched down around 2:02 PM Wednesday, northwest of Murray, near the intersection of Rob Mason Road and Kentucky 121 near Rudolph Freight. The tornado remained on the ground for five minutes and traveled 5.3 miles.

The NWS reported several homes had shingle damage with one garage sliding off its foundation. Additionally, several trees were snapped or uprooted. The most significant damage occurred along Poor Farm Road.

The tornado lifted just northeast of the intersection of U.S. Highway 641 and Kentucky 80.

A commercial site, not listed by the NWS, suffered roof damage and windows blown in.  According to the storm’s path, it’s believed to be Paschall Truck Lines, Inc.

No injuries were reported as a result of the 50-yard-wide tornado.
