Howard “Tootie” Higgins, age 79 of Elkton, passed away at 8:50 a.m., Saturday, April 8, 2023, at his residence. Services will be Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Latham Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Mitchell and Rev. Larry Cardwell officiating. Burial will follow in the McColpin Cemetery in Allegre. Visitation will be Friday, April 14, 2023, at Latham Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m.

Mr. Higgins was born in Allegre, on December 12, 1943. He was the owner-operator of Russellville Livestock Market for over 40 years and a cattle farmer. He was a member of Allegre Missionary Baptist Church, the Cattleman’s Association, and a Kentucky Colonel. He loved watching and attending horse racing. He is preceded in death by his parents Herbert Mathus Higgins and Mary Belle Segers Higgins, and his brothers Gerry, Doris, Kenneth, Randy, and Junior Higgins.
He is survived by his wife Loretta Higgins of Elkton, his son Barry Higgins and his wife Kim of Lewisburg, his daughter Stephanie Houchens and her husband Joey of Elkton, his step-daughter Amy Ezell and her husband Brandon of Hopkinsville, his brother Stevie Higgins and his wife Tammy of Clarksville, Tenn., his grandchildren Cody and Kameron Higgins, Jonathon Smith, Heather Driskill, Logan and Liam Christmas, Ellie Evans, and 4 great-grandchildren.
