Though set for jury trial July 24, both parties for Shaylynn Curtis moved ever closer to mediation, following a Wednesday morning pre-trial conference in Trigg County Circuit Court.
She’s charged for the killing of her infant son in 2021 at her East Adams Mill Road home, and a mediation is scheduled for 10 AM May 26 in Eddyville.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Carrie Ovey-Wiggins noted she’s recently filed a notice pursuant to KRE 902.11.
Circuit Judge Jamus Redd made note of this with public defender Katy Riley, and Curtis tried to speak a bit on her behalf.
Following a Kentucky State Police investigation, Curtis was cited with abuse of a corpse, murder, first-degree trafficking methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and second-degree disorderly conduct — all coming from a report and discovery that Curtis allegedly took the body of her deceased 5-month-old, wrapped the child in a blanket and placed him in her attic.
