Golf Scramble Kicks Off Hopkinsville Rotary’s ‘Drive’ To Raise Funds

As the Cadiz Rotary Club wraps up its annual auction, the Hopkinsville Rotary Club has begun its annual fundraising effort.

Rotarians and community members alike enjoyed sunshine and temperatures in the 70s at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club Friday afternoon.

Jake Williams, a Hopkinsville Rotarian, organized the 2nd annual tournament. He told Your News Edge the club has stepped up to make it all possible.

He said although an official goal was not set they raised a good amount of money to kick off the 73rd annual Hopkinsville Rotary Auction.

The auction portion of the fundraising effort will get underway Monday at 6:00 PM at the War Memorial Building at 1202 South Virginia Street in Hopkinsville. The auction will run through Saturday night, April 22.

Auction chairman Brandon Killebrew said they have some big items that will go up for sale.

Additionally, the club received a donation of two lower-level tickets to Taylor Swift’s Saturday, May 6, show at Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

At last check, Killebrew said tickets for that section of Swift’s show were selling for nearly $2,500 each.

He added Rotarians have ramped up efforts this year to ensure the auction can raise as much money as possible. The Cadiz and Hopkinsville clubs together raised over a million dollars last year.

There will be plenty of in-person auction items to bid on at the War Memorial Building and big items will be sold here. Food will be served each night of the auction.
