Rev. James Michael Torain, 67, of Hopkinsville

Rev. James Michael Torain, 67, Hopkinsville, passed on Monday, April 10, 2023.

Rev. Torain was the son of the late Jimmie and Alice Torain.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 17 at 12:00 at the All Nations House of Prayer.

Burial will follow in the Cave Spring Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday at 10:00 at the church.

Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Rev. Torain was an Associate Minister of Church Hill Baptist Church and was the former Pastor of Blooming Grove Missionary Baptist Church for almost 10 years. He enjoyed being a servant in the ministry of Christ.  In his spare time, he enjoyed watching all types of sports, music, and community service that included: visiting nursing homes and the inmates in jail spreading joy and laughter.

He was employed as a factory worker with Venture, a construction worker with the state, and a carrier for KY New Era. He was a graduate of Christian County High School where he excelled in Basketball and was a top player during his high school athletic career, he received a basketball scholarship and attended Southern Indiana University where he briefly continued his basketball journey (until he suffered an injury that prevented him from playing further). He joined the fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi at Eastern Kentucky University.

Additionally, Michael was a barber, realtor, tax preparer, and car detailer.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Charles Torain, Richard Torain, and Willa Dean Torain.

Survivors include his 3 children, Chris (Latoryia) Brown Sr., T’Ebony Torain, and Esherica (Martez) Price; Siblings, Linda Pearson, George Torain, Sr., and Frances (Rev. James) Dunbar; Six grandchildren; Twelve great-grandchildren.
