A Fort Campbell soldier living in Christian County was killed in a small non-military plane crash Saturday in North Carolina.
According to the Cherokee County, North Carolina Sheriff’s Office, Robert “Bobby” Ibrahim was the sole occupant of the single-engine aircraft. It crashed around 10:30 Saturday morning, after departing Western Carolina Regional Airport.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported the small-engine plane experienced a mechanical issue and crashed into a large pasture on Fairview Road, near the airport.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) called the plane a ‘Homebuilt Velocity aircraft’. The investigation continues with the NTSB and the Federal Aviation Administration.
Ibrahim, a ‘Night Stalker’, was assigned to the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment.
