Officials with Friends of Land Between the Lakes announced Monday the selection of Elaine Jackson as their next executive director.
Effective May 1, she is from Dover, Tennessee, and she will be responsible for oversight in a number of areas, including fundraising, sponsorship, program development, policies and procedures, human resources and volunteer management.
Jackson brings more than 30 years of work-related experiences in leadership. For the past two-plus decades, she administered programs for the Stewart County, Tennessee school district, and was elected president of non-profit organizations in the Rural Health Association and Tennessee School Health Association.
She also previously worked as a youth service officer for the Stewart County Juvenile Court System, and has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Austin Peay State University, her Alma mater, and received her master’s degree from the University of Tennessee.
Interim Executive Director John Rufli said Jackson’s “friendly demeanor, professionalism, energy and interdisciplinary background” will complement the Friends’ mission very well, and that possesses already an “impressive record” of successful fundraising and grant securing at the state and federal levels.
Friends of Land Between the Lakes serves as an independent non-profit partner of the U.S. Forest Service, whose main goal involves education programming, volunteer opportunities and enhanced recreational activities. Forty years ago, it was incorporated in Washington, D.C., and received its not-for-profit designation in 1984.
