The Hopkinsville Rotary Club is behind after night one of the 73rd annual auction Monday night.
Auction chairman Brandon Killebrew said night one totals included bringing in $6,698 during the auction, a $755 decrease from last year. The Diner and Sweet Shop brought in $1,839.50, an increase of over $420 from last year. The Hour Club total sits at $115,692, a decrease of over $19,000 from last year.
He added three Chancellor-Level donors representing gifts of $20,000 or more have committed to the Rotary Club’s 73rd Annual Campaign: Jennie Stuart Health, In Memory of Sarah and Selden Trimble, and Sue Badgett.
Killebrew said during Monday night’s auction, they gave away about $108,000 from the Hopkinsville Rotary Foundation.
Last night, $100,000 was presented to the City of Hopkinsville to begin fundraising efforts for an all-inclusive playground at Rotary Park at Pardue Lane. The park will need around $900,000 to fully fund the construction.
Jeffers Bend Environmental Center received a $5,000 donation to support youth programming.
The Hopkinsville-Christian County Family YMCA received $3,500 in support of a special needs children swimming lesson program.
Last year, over $80,000 was given to eight organizations during the auction.
The auction will resume for night two Tuesday at 6:00 PM at the War Memorial Building in Hopkinsville. It will be live-streamed here or on Spectrum Cable channel 376.
