A man was charged after fleeing from police on East 1st Street Wednesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say they attempted to stop a car driven by 33-year-old Johnnie Gregg Jr. on East 1st Street for failing to use a turn signal and Gregg fled leading law enforcement to terminate the pursuit due to so many people being in the area.
The vehicle reportedly hit a pile of tree debris badly damaging the vehicle before turning on Butler Road and Gregg and his passenger got out of the vehicle around Woodbine Street and fled on foot.
Gregg was located and charged with failure to or improper signal, possession of marijuana, reckless driving, first and second-degree fleeing or evading police, and leaving the scene of an accident. He was also found to have warrants for failure to comply with sex offender registration, possession of marijuana, two counts of contempt of court, and two counts of probation violation.
