Christian County Assistant Superintendent Takes Top Job At McCracken

Officials with Christian County Public Schools confirmed Monday morning that Assistant Superintendent Josh Hunt has accepted the position of superintendent with the McCracken County School District.

Hunt was confirmed early Monday by a vote from the McCracken County Board of Education.

He has served as assistant superintendent for CCPS since July 2020.

In a written statement, CCPS Superintendent Chris Bentzel gave congratulations to Hunt, and noted his 20-plus years as teacher, coach, assistant principal and central office administrator has prepared him for a new level of leadership. Bentzel called him “a family man, mentor, leader and someone who represents the true values of CCPS and the community.”

In the coming months, CCPS will reportedly work closely with McCracken County to ensure a smooth transition. Hunt’s tenure with CCPS ends June 30.

Hunt writes this was a “very difficult decision” for his family, because it’s the only place they’ve ever called home. Nearly all of his 22 years of experience have come in Christian County, and Hunt said he’s “proud of all the work” they’ve done as a team, despite challenges.

Husband to Miranda and father to Landon and Harper, Hunt said he’s excited to lead McCracken County Schools in a new chapter.
