Bentzel Said High School Consolidation Moving In The Right Direction

Christian County Public Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel called last week’s board of education meeting a step in the right direction in regard to the high school consolidation project.

During a conversation with Your News Edge, Bentzel said a lot of work must happen between now and when bids are received next month.

Bentzel added there had been a lot of conversations in the last year, including with a school district in Bowling Green that is nearly done with consolidation, to get where they are now.

Bentzel said the project will be broken down into multiple phases.

The recent redesign phase could bring the project close to the striking range of $110 million, instead of the over $200 million price tag mentioned in bids from last year.

The proposed Hopkinsville-Christian County Academy will hold nearly 2,900 students, faculty, and staff.
