The Cadiz Rotary Club celebrated a record-breaking auction during their Tuesday afternoon meeting.
Rotarians gathered in the D.J. Everett III Radio Room at the WKDZ/WHVO Studios for lunch and a word of thanks from auction chair Alana Baker Dunn after raising over $350,000.
During the lunch, Rotarian Beth Mann shared some history of the rotary auctions. She became a member in 1999 and said the first auction to raise over $50,000 was in 2001. The following year would bring in over $75,000, and when Mann chaired the auction in 2003, it marked the first time over $100,000 was raised during the week-long auction effort.
Mann added the community continues to step up and support the auction.
Mann said the 2023 auction brought in attention from the Cadiz-Trigg County community and beyond.
Funds raised benefit the youth and seniors of Trigg County. Most notably the club funds scholarships and grants for high school seniors and helps fund services for senior citizens.
