Recently, Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree and the Sheriff’s Department paid visit to The Way, in order to hold a “Drug Awareness” presentation for adults to help target and prevent drug use within youths.

Acree said the presentation consisted of some common drugs — like opioids, prescription medication, and typical under-age tobacco use with vape pins.

Those in attendance learned about common side effects, drug slang terminology and frequent hiding places in homes. They also received free lock boxes and medicine bags, in order to keep their legal medicines safe.

Acree noted awareness and warning signs are “critical,” because he wants to prevent drug usage, instead of working to treat drug addiction.

He further noted this is just the beginning of a drug outreach and awareness program, and he hopes it gains steam.
