An eastbound lane restriction on Interstate 24 continues at the 41-mile marker in Lyon County.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reported that a sinkhole developed on the right-of-way on the shoulder Saturday, which turned out to be a natural spring at the bottom of a 12-foot hole.
Lyon County’s Highway Maintenance Crew excavated the site Monday and filled the hole with concrete. Once cured, the crew will return to place several layers of asphalt down to rebuild the shoulder.
Officials said the lane restriction will likely be in place for several more days.
