Thelma McKenzie-Buhler, 90, of Hopkinsville, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 28, 2023, at Jubilee House on Warfield in Clarksville.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
A native of Christian County, she was born August 5, 1932, the daughter of the late James Monroe Hardison and Carrie Thelma Henderson Hardison. Thelma completed her undergraduate degree at Austin Peay State University and then earned her Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology from Murray State University.
Thelma retired as a school teacher from the Christian County Public School System. She later became the founder of Speech Hearing & Counseling Services, Inc. in Hopkinsville. Thelma served as the Henderson Memorial Baptist Church organist for many years before becoming a Madison Street United Methodist Church member.
Thelma is survived by her husband: Brandon Lee Buhler of Clarksville, ; her sons: William McKenzie and Brion (Laura) McKenzie both of Hopkinsville and Brad (Laurie) of Frisco, Texas; eight grandchildren; her stepdaughter: Debbie Buhler McCullough; and her stepson: Mark Buhler.
