Current Christian County Commonwealth’s Attorney Stephanie Bolen apparently missed the deadline to file to run to fill out the remainder of former prosecutor Rick Boling’s term in office.
Christian County Clerk Melinda Humphries confirmed to the News Edge that Bolen, who was chosen as the Democratic nominee by the Christian County Democrat Party in May, did not file her papers to run for the office by the deadline which was Tuesday, June 6. Governor Andy Beshear appointed Bolen in March to fill the remainder of Rick Boling’s term after the former prosecutor was allowed to retire at the end of February after talk of impeachment by the Kentucky General Assembly.
That leaves Assistant Christian County Attorney Maureen Leamy, who was nominated by the Christian County Republican Party recently, the only candidate in the November General Election runoff. Bolen or other candidates can still file for Commonwealth’s Attorney as an independent or as a write-in candidate.
The person elected in the November General Election will fill the remainder of Boling’s current term which will expire at the end of 2024.
