For more than two decades, Irene Grace has been one of the many faces at the Christian County Regional Animal Shelter — greeting the people of Trigg, Christian and Todd counties seeking to adopt, reclaim, release or donate to the cause.
Tuesday morning in Christian County Fiscal Court, she announced her retirement, noting she’s ready to turn her attention to other community endeavors after having been either an assistant director, or director, during this time.
Grace received a standing ovation from the court and its visitors, as well as some kind words from Judge-Executive Jerry Gilliam.
Located at 2935 Russellville Road in Hopkinsville, the fiscal court now must make a decision on the next leader for the animal shelter.
