Saturday Tornado Confirmed In Western Kentucky


The National Weather Service in Paducah confirmed an EF-1 tornado tracked through portions of Graves, Marshall, and Lyon counties Saturday evening.

In a preliminary survey released Monday, the NWS said the tornado touched down around 6:30 PM just northwest of Hickory. The tornado remained on the ground for 31 minutes, traveled a path of 27 miles, and reached maximum wind speeds of 90 MPH.

The tornado diminished in northwestern Lyon County near Twin Lakes Campground and was around 100 yards in width.

Minor tree and structural damage was reported along the storm’s path, including at Moors Resort in Marshall County. Extensive damage was reported at Twin Lakes Campground.
