The Eddyville Riverport and Industrial Development Authority is among four western Kentucky riverports receiving funds, as announced by Governor Andy Beshear Wednesday.
The funds will go to needed infrastructure and equipment upgrades to improve operations and access to riverports. The funding, which was legislatively appropriated and must be locally matched, was awarded for six separate projects at the four riverports.
Kentucky Transportation Secretary Jim Gray approved the awards at the recommendation of the Kentucky Water Transportation Advisory Board, which reviewed the applications.
Eddyville will receive $184,061 to help purchase a CAT 330 excavator to provide redundancy for material loading/unloading and to help expand operations. The Paducah-McCracken County Riverport Authority received $30,510 to help replace two deteriorated entranceways and aprons to provide increased access to storage yards.
The Owensboro Riverport Authority and Henderson County Riverport Authority received the additional $285,000+. Last June, Governor Beshear announced $500,000 in grants to four riverports for eight projects.
