Quarles Murder Mediation Planned For Mid-July

Originally scheduled for a trial beginning July 31, Tavarius Quarles was set for a July 21 mediation Wednesday morning in Christian County Circuit Court — and another appearance planned for July 26.

He’s charged with the May 2022 fatal shooting of 33-year-old Christopher Mumford, whose body was located in front of an East 4th Street home with a gunshot wound to the head.

He’s also charged with wanton endangerment first degree, tampering with physical evidence and trafficking in a controlled substance first degree, second or greater offense of less than four grams of cocaine.

A May trial date loomed before it was moved, and a special prosecutor in Clayton Adams assigned to the proceedings.

Adams requested Judge John Atkins reschedule because of prior engagements and the need further examine the case file. At the time, Adams also said he intended to pursue another indictment against Quarles.

Quarles is defended by Sands Chewning.
