Christian County Public Schools officially implemented its no-tolerance policy on vaping during a press conference Monday afternoon.
The school system is being joined by other community partners to address the issue – Kim Stevenson, Director of Alternative Programs, said the district had hundreds of students who were caught with vaping products during the 2022-23 school year.
Stevenson shared what the no-tolerance vaping policy will mean for students.
The partnership includes the Christian County Health Department, Christian County Judge Executive’s office, Christian County Sheriff Department, City of Hopkinsville, Hopkinsville Police Department, Jennie Stuart Health, Juvenile Court, and Pennyroyal Mental Health Center.
Ashley Felts from the Pennyroyal Mental Health Center said they assist individuals to achieve their very best.
District Judge John Lindsey Adams said it’s illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to possess nicotine or vaping products.
Hopkinsville Police Chief Jason Newby issued a warning to those who may be selling these products to those who are underage.
Following the press conference, all partners in attendance signed a declaration to show their support.
