A September evidentiary hearing has been scheduled in Christian County Circuit Court for a Hopkinsville man charged with two murders in 2021.
Appearing in court Wednesday before Judge Andrew Self, defense attorney Brandi Jones requested the suppression hearing without going into detail about which evidence she was looking for the court to quash.
Anthony Gaines is charged with the August 7, 2021 deaths of George Gomez and Kiera Wallace, who were found inside a Peach Street home.
Jones again brought to the court’s attention the inability to view discovery and evidence at the Christian County Jail for preparation in his case. A computer was formerly made available but inmate abuse in accessing the internet and changing passwords caused that process to be halted.
The policy did not change when Adam Smith was sworn in as Jailer earlier this year.

In addition to the murder charges, Gaines is charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and four counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.
Gaines will be back in court on September 5 with Judge Self indicating a trial date is not imminent.
